AEP meets with new Welsh Minister for Education & Welsh Language
On Wednesday 12 August, Rachel Jones, AEP Region 9 (Wales/Cymru) rep and Dewi Hughes, Chair of the Professional Policies Subcommittee, met with Anna Brychan, Welsh Minister for Education and the Welsh Language. This meeting was a valuable opportunity to talk about some of the issues currently affecting children and young people across Wales, and to share the experiences and views of educational psychologists.

Exam results published across England, Wales and Northern Ireland
On Thursday, GCSE exam results were published across England, Wales and Northern Ireland. This follows the release of A level and AS level results last week. AEP General Secretary, Donna Wiggett commented: “Congratulations to all those young people receiving exam results. EPs work with young people every day and recognise the hard work, commitment and resilience needed to complete these exams. We also acknowledge the dedication of teachers and the wider education workforce who have supported young people throughout their education.”

Soulbury Pay Agreement 2026-7
We are pleased to confirm that in July 2026, following consultation with members, the Soulbury Committee reached an agreement on a pay award for 2026. The updated pay circular has now been published by the Local Government Association, confirming updated pay scales with effect from 1 September 2026.

Editorial Board Election Results 2026 - Educational Psychology in Practice (EPiP)
We are pleased to announce the results of the election of the Educational Psychology in Practice journal Editorial Board. Following the close of voting at noon on Friday 10 July 2026, four successful nominees were elected. These members will take up their posts from August 1 2026 and we look forward to welcoming them.
