Meeting with Minister for Children and Families, Vicky Ford MP

Representatives from the Association of Educational Psychologists (AEP), the (BPS) Division of Educational and Child Psychologists (DECP), the National Association of Principal Educational Psychologists (NAPEP) were pleased to meet with the Minister for Children and Families, Vicky Ford MP, last week.

The meeting was arranged to discuss a range of issues related to the SEND Review which is expected to be published in Spring 2021 and examine the role of Educational Psychologists within this. The discussion was very constructive and focussed on the need for early intervention for CYP of all ages, the effective use of SEN funding within mainstream schools and workforce capacity issues. The group look forward to working closely with the Minister and the Department of Education to ensure all children and young people with SEND receive the support they need.

Soulbury Pay Settlement 2024
In February 2025, after careful consideration from all three Soulbury unions, the Officers' Side reluctantly accepted the 2024 pay offer. The unions put on record their huge disappointment at this outcome, which represents yet another real terms pay cut and another significant worsening of Soulbury pay relative to teachers. The AEP National Executive Committee noted their reluctance to accept and expresses its disappointment at the Employers Side ‘final’ offer, which does not address the real terms decrease in Educational Psychologists’ pay over several years.
