Barnsley Council have an exciting opportunity for Educational Psychologists to join the team based in Barnsley. We have full time and part time permanent positions available. 

The Educational Psychologist role:
Barnsley Educational, Child and Community Psychology Service (BECCPS) are a highly regarded forward thinking team, with a shared commitment to working collaboratively with others to build capacity and bring about positive change for children and young people. We are a high-profile service within the local authority and play a key role in informing and delivering strategic outcomes to promote positive change for children and young people with SEN. We are a non-traded service and practice within the full range of settings across Barnsley and also provide a psychology service to the Youth Justice Team and Virtual school.

BECCPS sits within the Education Inclusion Service (EIS) with the Principal Educational Psychologists managing the Social Communication and Interaction Service, the Portage Service and the Sensory Service. As an Educational Psychologist in Barnsley, you would be working within a robust, needs-led service model that supports a graduated approach with a focus on building capacity at SEN support. We value joint working and development work, and you would have the opportunity to work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver whole school training, centralised training and drive forward LA SEND agendas through task and finish working party groups. We are a service that values leadership at all levels working collaboratively as a team to create opportunities for staff to shape and develop our service.

Consultation approaches are at the heart of our service model, and you would be able to further develop your consultation skills to facilitate collaborative working and strengthen existing inclusive practice across Barnsley.  As a team we are committed to working with children, young people, parents/carers and other professionals through person centred, strength-based approaches that are outcome focused.

Please note:

  • All candidates must be professionally qualified and registered with the HCPC or be currently in training.
  • As part of this role, you will be required to travel to schools and settings out in the community.

£49,789 - £59,807 per annum (plus up to 3 SPA points)
