Wokingham Borough Council - Educational Psychologist

We have an excellent opportunity available for an Educational Psychologist to join our Children’s Services Team at Wokingham Borough Council, on a Full-time or Part-time, permanent basis.

There is lots going on in our EP service; expansion in the team, Practitioner grade opportunities, lots of investment both in the team and SEND overall. Crucially we offer the right balance between statutory work and developing a specialism.

As an Educational Psychologist, you will have a “patch” of schools and settings to support, providing psychological services and advice to children, young people and their families. 

You will be joining a supportive and high performing team with a range of experience, where each EP is encouraged to develop their learning and areas of interest.  We work closely with the Mental Health Support Teams that are led by our Senior EPs. The cohesive and valued nature of the EP’s team offers opportunities for all EPs to be part of service development.

Key responsibilities:

• To develop strong working relationships with your patch of schools/settings
• To support the LA in fulfilling its statutory duties in relation to SEND legislation
• To undertake high quality assessments using evidence-based approaches
• To ensure the voice of the child /young person is heard and your practice is respectful, fair, equitable and transparent
• To work in partnership with service users, their families and colleagues and meets the need of our diverse population.
• To develop a specialist interest to enhance your own professional development and that of the service

Candidate requirements:

• A doctorate in Educational Psychology or equivalent qualification as recognised by the HCPC and British Psychological Society or the expectation of successful completion of the doctorate training by September 2025 or September 2026
• Experience gained either through previous/current employment as an EP role OR via professional training
• Driving License
